I don't know if it has been considered or not, but adding a quantity option to the Crafting Materials and Rare Materials Trader's would be very helpful. Placing a cap of 2 mins to purchase at the requested quote I think would prevent people from camping the traders to try get and keep the quoted price so they may share it at the lower price to thier friends.
Just a Thought.

It would solve any carpal tunnel problems associated with material trading.

I've suggested this before. Even if we assume that the current trader algorithm can't handle bulk purchases, its still doable by processing the bulk trade as a series of single trades, which allows ANET to do this with a very simple script.
You just tell the script it how many of the item you want to buy/sell and the acceptable price range. The script automates the request quote, buy/sell item until either you have traded the requested amount or the price moves outside the acceptable range. The acceptable range might be player specified, or it might just be the price you get from the first request quote (meaning any price change ends the script early).
I'm even willing to have the entire bulk transaction system done clientside. If this is done clientside, then the delay between hitting request quote and the buy/sell button will still be there for each trade, so you just AFK for a few minutes while the script runs.
/signed. To me this seems a very simple suggestion that will be a lot of help.

buying 250 pieces of Elonian leather square one by one is silly.

It makes sense..
1) It would make it alot easier to actually see how many pieces of a material you can afford in one chunk.
2) Its just time consuming if you want to buy anywhere from 10-250 pieces of a material.

Well thank God we have someone here who's never made a mistake.

Oh wait, there's another one!
Geez people, it's like your lurking around, just waiting for someone to make some sort of mistake and then you pounce. If you don't have anything constructive to say, then don't say anything at all.

This can't be done cause apparently it would mess up the prices for runes/materials at traders, i think the OP understands this. As i thought of this 1 year ago and was told WHY that anet doesn't have it this way.. I'm sure they are aware of it they just have a reason that its not this way.

Would certainly help speed up buying and selling rare and common materials to traders. Makes sense. I'd go with how bilateralrope described.

I can see the trader algorithm having problems if you ask it to transfer more than one load at a time. However I can't see there being any problems with a script that buys the required item 1 load at a time until the desired number is reached, because thats how players buy large amounts currently. The only difference is that the script removes a lot of tedious clicking.
In fact someone could probably write a mod for the GW client that does exactly that. I'm just not sure if ANET will ban people for using it or not.
